Lectures

A cycle of lectures dedicated to the issues of urbanism
- in cooperation with the civic association For a Beautiful Olomouc

Urbanism has established itself as a science that can bring rationality and prudence into the chaos of modern city growth, primarily due to considerations of the city as a complex entity that encompasses geographical conditions, history, changing social ties, economic activities, as well as cultural richness and the quality of interaction among people. The question is, to what extent is it possible to transfer the vision of a better city into real life? Or rather, how do urban or even architectural intentions influence the life of the city, or conversely, how much does life shape the physical environment in which it takes place? The usual debate about what came first - the chicken or the egg - which has no clear winner, and in this case, it would be good to end in a draw. After all, what has happened and is happening in Brno over the last twenty years could be a testament to that.
