Martí Franch Battlori is a Spanish architect. As part of the lecture series LANDSCAPE, he will present on May 17, 2019, at 7:00 PM in CAMP, among other things, the project for the demolition of the former recreational resort and the revitalization of the area in Catalonia.
The Tudela-Culip project involves the removal of more than 400 buildings from a former holiday village in eastern Spain, which has gained the status of a protected natural park. The landscape has been transformed into a system of meandering paths and coastal viewpoints. Through low-cost interventions, the design interprets and organizes deconstruction as a combination of destruction and reconstruction, emphasizing the qualities of the landscape. It proposes a way to compose a site visit into a story that inspires culture in nature.
The LANDSCAPE series – the architect's contribution to the discussion about human-affected landscapes. We build on the pilot theme from 2018, confronting Czech monumental scenery (the theme of the reclamation of North Bohemian mines) with the work of Chilean landscape architect Teresa Moller. In 2019, we focus on themes of landfills and waste processing.
