The publisher of the Smart Cities magazine, in collaboration with the city of Brno, is organizing the first conference on smart cities in the Czech Republic at the beginning of June, titled "How to Kickstart a Smart City". The conference aims to bring specific examples from practice and guidelines that politicians, officials, small and medium-sized enterprises, architects, and students can use in their work.

The conference aims to accelerate the transfer of useful information and thus their impact on the governance of Czech and Slovak cities. In the current state of an abundance of information of varying quality and a large number of informational and educational events, this conference aims to present the best that is currently on offer.
The first day of the conference is dedicated to presentations of successful solutions from various areas of city management. Representatives from the cities of Vienna, Prague, Bratislava, and Brno, as well as smaller towns like Litomyšl, Trenčín, Vodňany, and Púchov, will focus their presentations on specific successful solutions. Following their presentations, there will be a discussion on the transferability of good solutions to other cities and possible collaboration among cities. The first day will conclude with a social evening at the Tugendhat Villa, where interesting discussion topics can be explored in more detail. The entire day will be moderated by television presenter Michaela Hergetová.
The second day of the conference is dedicated to tools for smart cities, as mastering these tools is crucial for further development and its pace. In addition to domestic experts and specialized companies, guests from abroad will also attend, specifically from Rotterdam, Liverpool, and London. These foreign presentations will provide valuable insights into various models of cooperation between cities, between city and state, or between cities and innovative small firms. The first two blocks of this day will be moderated by the editor-in-chief of Smart Cities magazine, David Bárta. The final block of the second day focuses on public space and will be led by Rostislav Koryčánek.
By organizing the Smart Cities conference, the organizers aim to open a public discussion on the long-term planned development of our cities with the involvement of the civic community.
