On Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at 4:00 PM, a meeting with Iain Patterson will take place at the House of Art in Ostrava, along with the launch of the publication for the exhibition Iain Patterson / Out West and a lecture titled Architecture Without Architects.
Iain Patterson taught for thirty years at the School of Drawing and Painting at Edinburgh College of Art (ECA). He specialized in teaching life drawing, anatomical drawing, and painting composition from the first years to postgraduate students. He has always shown great interest in his students' careers and the functioning of art organizations, particularly the New 57 Gallery (1968-74). He is a founding member and former chair of Collective Gallery in Edinburgh.
Now, after retiring from ECA, Iain Patterson plans to dedicate much more time to his own artistic activities in a studio in East Linton. For fifteen years, he has been renovating a traditional house in the Hebrides and is passionately interested in vernacular architecture and improvised music.
At the House of Art. Admission with a valid ticket for the exhibition.
