Prague - President Miloš Zeman has received a building permit for the construction of his house in Lány in the Kladno region. He wants to start building the bungalow this year. He said this today at Prague Castle during a meeting with the mayors of the winning municipalities of the Village of the Year 2019 competition.

Zeman said he obtained the building permit about a week ago. "I will start building this year," he added. He said he plans to build a bungalow because he has not saved enough for a villa.

Last March, the Aktuálně.cz server reported that Zeman purchased a plot of land in Lány for 2.5 million crowns. The plot, covering nearly 1,000 square meters, is located not far from the chateau where the president partially resides.

The land is in a new development on the western edge of the village. On one side, it is bordered by a slope, at the top of which there is a road.

In September 2018, after visiting the Olomouc region, the president said he was considering purchasing land in the municipality of Mnichovice in the Prague-East district. He wanted to build a bungalow there after his term ended.

Zeman has permanent residence in Stodůlky, Prague. He also owns part of a property in Nové Veselí, where he goes on vacation. He lived in this former fortress during the period before the first direct presidential election, when he went to Vysočina for political retirement.
