Karlovy Vary

Karlovy Vary - The Emergency Medical Service of the Karlovy Vary Region has had a new building available since yesterday in the premises of the regional authority. The construction of the multifunctional building cost approximately 75 million crowns and was funded by a loan from the region. The facility will be gradually equipped with modern technologies for about 35 million crowns, and the paramedics will start moving in in September. Part of the building will also be used by the regional office. This was announced by Luděk Nečesaný, director of the Karlovy Vary Regional Hospital.
The management of the regional ambulance and crews in Karlovy Vary have so far used part of the firefighters' building and partly operated from an old provisional building. Now there is enough space not only for a modern operations center that will manage operations across the region but also for ambulances and their crews. The building features rest rooms for paramedics, storage for medical supplies, and a training center, Nečesaný noted. "We have reduced administration, which has left room for offices for the regional office," Nečesaný pointed out.
For Nečesaný, who temporarily led the ambulance service for eight months as director of the regional hospital, completing the building was one of his last tasks. Starting in September, he will be succeeded by his current medical deputy, Roman Sýkora, as head of the regional paramedics.
In addition to the building, the paramedics also presented a new color scheme for the ambulances, which will be much more visible in operation. "The emergency service is in good shape. At the end of last year, it reported a loss of about 9.7 million crowns. This year, in the first half, it is up by almost 1.5 million," added Nečesaný.
The Territorial Emergency Medical Service of the Karlovy Vary Region operates with an annual budget of around 200 million crowns. Of this, two-thirds come from the regional contribution, and the rest from health insurance reimbursements. Last year, three operations centers sent out response teams to nearly 23,000 cases. The region has invested around 50 million crowns in recent years into the construction of new quick response stations for the emergency medical service or their renovations. There are currently 11 response stations in the region.
