Prague - The Council of the State Environmental Fund (SFŽP) today approved 107 applications from the Green Savings program aimed at reducing the energy intensity of housing. Approximately 14 million crowns from a total amount of 25 billion crowns, which the state obtained from the sale of emission allowances to Japan, were distributed. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of the Environment, Rut Bízková, after the council meeting. On Monday, the fund recorded 303 submitted applications.
The applications for grants still need to be signed by the Minister of the Environment, Ladislav Miko. The conditions for granting subsidies from the Green Savings program have been adjusted twice, most recently on August 17, due to a lack of public interest. Grants are now also provided for just one insulation measure, and panel buildings are no longer excluded from the program. Applicants can now count on a grant of 20,000 crowns for initial project documentation, until the 50 million crowns allocated by the fund for this purpose are exhausted.
If citizens do not show interest in the program, which the state currently offers through the fund, within three years, the unspent funds will be returned to Japan, from which the Czech Republic obtained the funds for emission credits.
Applications for grants can be submitted since the end of April at the regional offices of SFŽP. People can also access the funds through branches of domestic banks, which also offer co-financing.
The Green Savings program provides grants focused on insulating households, the construction of so-called passive houses, and the installation of renewable energy sources for heating.
