The Hunchback of Troja

The space is a cathedral facing south. We wanted to enhance the space that is made naturally by the tree and the arch. Using materials found in the area supports our idea of adding something human made to a natural made structure.

On the Ground - In the Wind

We found a tree that we felt had a special movement. It withheld a kind of grasp on the ground where one feels small and surrounded by some then protective. But with a possibility to come up and over the ground and feel the air around you.
Contrasts: firm ground vs. floating on air
Solution: a tight enclosed and protected space combined with a structure floating in the wind
Feeling safe and feeling free!

Preparing for Floods

… inspirated by local conditions and history... create a visible landmark... expression visualizing the possibility of floods... connecting the river and the top of the barrier to let people know there is something behind... inviting people up... cutting landscape with a straight line... make the barrier come to life...

Příprava na povodeň

… inspirace místními poměry a historií... vytvořit viditelná orientační bod... vizuálně vyjádřit možnost záplavy... spojení řeky s vrchole protipovodňové bariéry... ukázat, co je za ní... pozvat lidi nahoru... přesušit krajinu přímkou... oživit bariéru...

The Nest

312 different wooden pieces were put up in a tree weaving a space for skywatching.
The geometry of the nest comes directly from the trees geometry. Wood and natural rope were used for construction.
The nest was made with a perspective to grow old, growing slowly into the wind, becoming more and more part of the tree. The interior where the nest meets the body is smoother, while the outside, where the nest meets the nature has a rough surface.
People can now feel the tree from the inside, lay down and watch leaves and sky.

Lidé mohou citít strom z vnitřku, lehnout si a pozorovat listí a oblohu.

The Tunnel

The project is a work on contrast between outside and inside. After being drawned into the wooden structure, you dive gradually in another dimension. The walls get narrow the smell of earth is stronger, the space is secure and intimate.
Curiosity brings you to the end of the tunnel to a chamber where you sit and feel the earth and its vibrations. The atmosphere is deep and private, you look up and can see the sky from a different point of view. When you come back to the outside, you senses are back to normal, it is like a new birth.

Tunel

Momentary Lapse of Reason

The topic of 'a magical forest' brought us to think about fantasy, dreaming and places somewhere between reality and dream world. Through the dreaming and the fantasy we decided to make a bed for us, that is right in between. It provides privacy but is a part of surroundings. It is hidden and at the same time exposed. It is closed, but open as well.

The Floating Floors

We want to introduce the feeling of floating in the forest, for this reason we created a space to rest, meditate or meet other people. This space consists of three levels, each of them offering different experiences. You can lay down and watch the river flow. The wooden floors represent the lifted horizontal ground, while the ropes show the strength and diversity of the forest. Regarded from different distances and angles you can see various spatial compositions which will be emphasezed when people are present in the structure.

In between

The concept of this project starts with a two parameters. First, the park is defined by many different kind of borders, rows, groves, barriers, streets etc. These defines several directions and connections that counteract each other. Second, eight independent projects will be located in the park with different expression and directions.
These two parameters generates a possibility and our will to work with a gathering element. The strongest general object in the park from the human view are the trunk with their strong verticality and density. By physical connections and spatial focus given to the scenes that the 8 projects are creating.

Observatory

Wooden platform to observe the landscape. The structure is supported by the trees and it provides spaces to interact with the trees.

Pozorovatelna
