Prague - The history of architecture from the Great Moravian Empire to the beginning of the 21st century has been processed in 800 pages by the authors of the publication Architecture. It was published by Paseka Publishing House in the thematic series Great Histories of the Lands of the Czech Crown. The book covers the main currents of architectural development in the domestic territory: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles, the periods of historicism, and the transformations of modern architecture. It also recalls the most significant realizations and creators who worked in the Czech lands. In addition to architecture, experts of individual historical periods Klára Benešovská, Petr Kratochvíl, Ivan P. Muchka, Taťána Petrasová, Dalibor Prix, and Rostislav Švácha also mention important urban concepts and milestones in the development of settlements. The publication Architecture is the first volume of this new thematic series. Its ambition is to inform about the latest findings in the history of architecture in the Czech lands from the early Middle Ages to the present day. The new thematic series aims to provide the general public and students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge of individual fields, which the basic series of Great Histories of the Lands of the Czech Crown only provides in a framework within historical contexts. The publication contains, besides extensive text, a wealth of black-and-white photographs, period illustrations, and drawings of floor plans.
