Vrchlabí will open the renovated cultural center Střelnice next year

Vrchlabí (Trutnov area) - In Vrchlabí in the Trutnov area, builders are completing the renovation of the Střelnice cultural center for approximately 35 million crowns. The newly reconstructed building is expected to be ceremoniously opened on January 5, 2009, said Deputy Mayor Jan Konvalina to ČTK.
    The town hall, which obtained most of the project funding from European funds, has repaired the roof, improved the facilities for spectators and performers. The project also includes acquiring a new curtain and stage equipment, as well as enhancing the outdoor areas of the building, which will allow for the organization of summer cultural events, such as the International Folklore Festival.
    In the hall of the Vrchlabí Střelnice, Miloš Forman filmed his movie "Fire,man's babe" in 1967. The ongoing renovation aims to restore the hall to its original appearance, and photographs should also remind visitors of the film's shooting in the interiors of the Střelnice. Forman's film also premiered in the Vrchlabí hall. However, after protests from firefighters from other locations, who claimed that the film mocked their work, the movie ended up in a vault.
