Ceske Budejovice - The Vltava River in Ceske Budejovice has been bridged by a new footbridge near the Budvar Arena for 21.5 million crowns. The original one had to be closed last year due to a state of emergency and was subsequently removed. Pedestrians will be able to use the new bridge from November 17. "I believe this fact will please not only sports fans who cross it to attend volleyball or hockey games," said Deputy Mayor Kamil Calta (TOP 09) to ČTK. The footbridge is over 70 meters long, 3.5 meters wide, and arches over the river at a height of 1.5 meters. According to Calta, the competition reduced the price to approximately half. Construction began on June 7. The financing involves the heating plant, which will cover about one-fifth of the costs for the new bridging of the steam pipeline. This supplies approximately 30 percent of customers on the left bank of the Vltava via the bridge. Other technological networks also run across the footbridge.
