In Strážnice, they want to repair the historic center for tens of millions

Strážnice (Hodonín Region) - In Strážnice, located in the Hodonín region, plans are in motion to repair the historic center of the town for several tens of millions of crowns. The plan is still in its early stages and will include the modification of public spaces as well as the reconstruction of some historic houses. Renata Smutná, the town's deputy mayor, said this to ČTK today. According to her, the town should regain a similar appearance to what it had decades ago, before the communist government affected its character.
    The town hall is also unhappy with the department store and would like to at least renovate it in the future. However, the building has a private owner, as do many other buildings that are in need of repair, noted the deputy mayor. She mentioned that this could complicate the transformation of the center. A similar problem exists with one of the Renaissance houses in the center. The owner insensitively replaced the windows of the historic building years ago, Smutná noted.
    The town hall currently does not have a clear vision for the new look of the town, which is mainly known for its international folklore festival. It is expected that local citizens will also be involved in the search for a new face. "It will proceed in small steps and will mainly depend on how successfully we can secure funding," she stated. The city office would like to obtain part of the funds through a grant from the European Union. It is clear that major repairs will not begin this year, the deputy mayor added. Next year, the public space in front of the Jewish synagogue, which has already undergone reconstruction, could be modified.
