Prague - The ninth edition of the Architecture Week Prague 2015 festival begins today at the Jiřský Monastery in Prague Castle. It will last until October 18. The central exhibition of the festival is titled Monuments of My Region. Within this framework, all regions of the Czech Republic will showcase not only their greatest architectural gems but also culture, art, and objects that best characterize the respective region.
The main curator of the exhibition is architect Miroslav Řepa. In addition to the Monuments of My Region exhibition, other exhibitions organized as part of the festival will be held at the Jiřský Monastery: a unique presentation by WHC UNESCO marking the 70th anniversary of its establishment, an exhibition titled Sacred Prague, and a display dedicated to newly reconstructed villas in Brno. In collaboration with the relevant embassies, monuments and contemporary architecture from 27 other countries around the world will also be presented at the Jiřský Monastery.
Prague will host the premiere of exhibitions dedicated to French Romanesque churches and English cathedrals. Furthermore, lectures and walks throughout Prague, as well as many accompanying events, are prepared for the public. A conference on the topic of Strategies for Financing Immovable Cultural Monuments will be held for professionals and representatives of the regions.
