Mladá Boleslav

Mladá Boleslav - Today, Mladá Boleslav began the long-planned construction of a new parking garage with a capacity of 110 spaces near Jaselská Street. The investment will cost the city 51 million crowns and is related to the construction of a nearby university campus. The parking building will be constructed on an empty site near the employment office and is expected to be completed in June 2007, according to Deputy Mayor Robin Povšík.

The city originally prepared a project for a larger facility with a capacity of 157 parking spaces. However, the project was changed to its current form because the original option would have cost the city several dozen million crowns more, and the costs per parking space would have been disproportionately high.
Near the planned construction, Škoda Auto is already building an Educational Center Na Karmeli in cooperation with the city, which is set to serve its purpose in the autumn of 2007. According to Povšík, the city plans to lease 60 spaces in the upcoming parking garage to Škoda Auto. The remaining 50 spaces will be for the public. Only the future city council will determine the management regime for this part of the building, according to Povšík.
City leadership representatives emphasized today that the construction will at least partially solve parking in the area. However, Povšík admitted that it alone does not meet the needs of drivers. Therefore, the city has another parking area in reserve and is mainly preparing to build additional parking facilities. Next year, it plans to begin construction of a parking garage with a capacity of 300 to 350 spaces at Komenského Square in the historic part of the city. Additionally, it is planning another parking building near the city stadium, which is expected to reach a capacity of 175 spaces in its first phase. This construction will also be decided by the new council.
