České Budějovice - In the South Bohemian Region, 2108 apartments were started last year, 169 more than the previous year. Construction companies in South Bohemia completed 2229 apartments last year, which is 516 more than in 2018. In all districts, the construction of apartments in family houses predominated, except for the Českobudějovice area, where completed apartments in apartment buildings slightly prevailed. This follows from the data of the Czech Statistical Office.

In district towns, a larger scale of construction is expected this year in Český Krumlov. The company SVV real plans to build 66 apartments and 131 flats in the area of the former Jitona company, with work set to begin in the autumn. Apartment buildings are also being constructed in the area of the former Tábor garrison of Jan Žižka, in the Dvorce district. "There are two buildings adjoining Kpt. Jaroš Street," said Luboš Dvořák, spokesman for the Tábor town hall, to ČTK. The company AXR is now renovating one house, where there will be 37 apartments, and plans to renovate a second building in 2022. This was stated to ČTK by Dana Švecová, head of the Tábor city property management department.

The number of apartments started in South Bohemia last year increased by nearly nine percent year-on-year. The initiated construction accounted for 5.5 percent of all under-construction apartments in the Czech Republic, which totaled 38,677 apartments last year, nearly 17 percent more than in 2018.

In most South Bohemian districts, the number of apartments that started construction last year increased year-on-year, with the Český Krumlov region seeing an increase of more than 60 percent. Statisticians recorded an increase of more than 75 percent in apartments under construction in apartment buildings. Despite this, the region primarily saw apartments being built in family houses (1394): they made up two-thirds of the total number of apartments that companies started building last year. In the Strakonice region, their share even exceeded 95 percent.

Among the apartments that companies completed last year, South Bohemia occupies, like in the case of under-construction apartments, the sixth position among the regions. In the Czech Republic, builders completed 36,422 apartments last year, which was a 7.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.

In the South Bohemian Region, completed apartments in family houses predominated last year (1331 apartments), making up almost 60 percent of the total, with nearly one hundred percent in the Písek area. The number of apartments in apartment buildings also increased, with workers completing 784 last year. More than half of the apartments completed last year are in the České Budějovice district.
