A multifunctional building is expected to be built next to the exhibition grounds in České Budějovice

České Budějovice - A multipurpose building is set to be constructed near the exhibition grounds in České Budějovice, which will also include 950 parking spaces in addition to shops and sports centers. The private investor still needs to resolve the traffic connection to the facility, Deputy Mayor Juraj Thoma told reporters today.
    "Various circus attractions take place there today, and the area is also used for go-karting," Thoma stated. Of the four floors of the building, two are expected to serve as retail space, while the remaining ones will feature gyms and a cinema, for example. The city will first lease the land near the exhibition grounds to the company investing hundreds of millions of crowns in the construction, and will sell it only after the building is approved for use. "This gives the city assurance that they cannot buy the land and then build something completely different than what they won the competition with," Thoma added.
    The investor also needs to repair the adjacent road by the speedway stadium, which could allow city public transport buses to use it after reconstruction. "The road is currently in such a technical condition that regular scheduled transport cannot be permitted at all there," Thoma stated.
    Another parking building is planned for the center of České Budějovice. The building, which will provide space for 395 cars, will be constructed at the corner of F. A. Gerstner and Goethova Streets. The private investor is set to begin construction this autumn at a cost of approximately 150 million crowns. The parking facility is expected to be operational for drivers next year.
