Prague - A new vestibule was opened today at the Stodůlky metro station, which is intended to provide access to the station from the construction of the so-called Western City. The spokesperson for the Prague Public Transit Company, Ilona Vysoudilová, informed ČTK about this. The construction of the new vestibule took approximately one year and cost 284 million crowns. According to Vysoudilová, the foundations of this western vestibule were established already in the early 1990s during the extension of the metro to the terminal station Zličín. "The construction was then realized as a preliminary measure, and the vestibule was never put into operation,” stated Lukáš Kruml, head of the investment department of the transport company. The entrance to the station has been newly roofed and architecturally connected with the surrounding buildings. New spaces for shops, police, and restrooms have been created in the vestibule. Passengers will also find an ATM, ticket pre-sales, and a validator that allows uploading public transport coupons onto the opencard. According to Vysoudilová, public areas of the station and the technologies that enable better orientation and movement for the visually and physically impaired have also been modernized. A new quarter called Western City is expected to grow around the station, which could surpass even Prague's South City in its extent. A large residential and office project is being developed in this area by the development company Finep.
