Slaný (Kladensko) - The leadership of Slaný in Kladensko will meet with conservationists in February to discuss the final design of the parking garage. Construction began at the end of last July. The negotiations will decide on the color and division of the facade, as the parking garage is located in the historic center of the city. This was stated today by Mayor Ivo Rubík (ODS) to journalists. The parking garage, costing 83 million crowns, is expected to open next January. It will have a capacity of 149 spaces, managed by computers. According to Rubík, conservationists approved the shape and volume of the parking garage in the past. The city still needs to agree with them on the external appearance of the facades, which should blend into the historic area. "...what its color, division, and so on will be," Rubík described the content of the upcoming negotiations. He added that there are about five different proposals, but he did not present them to journalists. The construction of the computer-controlled garage began last year. Drivers will enter a hydraulically raised surface, pay a fee, and the machine will lift their car to a floor and park it in an available spot. Parking a car or retrieving it reportedly takes 45 seconds. Such a system is almost unique in the Czech Republic. A similar building has been operational since 2006 only in Ostrava. According to Rubík, the negative walls and concrete anchors necessary to secure the construction are already completed to prevent soil from collapsing during the excavation of the pit. Due to the sinking soil, the areas around the medieval cellars discovered by archaeologists had to undergo testing. When severe frosts are no longer a threat, the builders will prepare the foundation slab, Rubík added. He expects that the rough construction should be completed this June, when discussions about modifications to the interior spaces with the bank that will have its headquarters there are scheduled. The entire parking system in the historic center of the city will be changed due to the parking garage. Slaný suffers from a lack of parking spaces. The city estimates that it will recover its investment in 18 years. The building is rising on a concrete surface opposite the Grand City Center. The building will have five above-ground and one underground floor. From the outside, it will resemble a typical apartment building with windows, so it blends into the surrounding development. The construction of the parking garage in Slaný in Kladensko has been planned since 2009.
