Last week, Brno became acquainted with the basic rules of how to efficiently and effectively carry out renovations. An interactive model of a panel apartment, illustrating these principles, premiered to great interest from visitors at the Construction Fairs at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Another opportunity to view it was expected to come only in the autumn in Prague. However, the organizers decided to try to find a suitable place for the interactive model now and open its doors to visitors as soon as possible.

For five days during the Construction Fairs held from April 23 to 27, 2013, in Brno, experts conducted tours of a demonstration panel apartment that grew at the Brno Exhibition Centre. Several hundred visitors learned what to pay attention to during renovations, why air conditioning is also important in panel houses, and, most importantly, that quality matters.

“Don’t be afraid to choose among craftsmen, seek independent references, and have the courage to say, ‘I don’t want you because I think you’re doing it wrong.’ It’s your money, your home, and your health. In construction, we still encounter the fact that rapid technological development is not respected, which affects not only construction abroad but also here in the Czech Republic consistently,”
advised Michal Hučík, an expert from the Passive House Center, during the tour.

You can find a photo report from the guided tour here.

However, the journey of this interactive model at the Brno fairs does not end here. The model will also present itself to Prague visitors at the Letňany Exhibition Centre during the FOR ARCH fair (September 17 to 21, 2013).
If you know of a place where the renovated panel apartment could find a new home right now and also advise about “How to achieve passive renovation?” during the summer, please write to us at info@pasivnidomy.cz.
