The Prague 6 Town Hall will build underground garages in Dejvice

Prague - The Prague 6 municipality is preparing to build underground garages this year between Wuchterlova and Kafka street. There will be space for more than a hundred cars, and they will serve exclusively local residents. The Dejvice municipality has allocated 100 million crowns for the garage construction in this year's budget, said its spokesperson Martin Šalek to ČTK today.
   Vehicles previously parked on concrete panels on the surface. Now, archaeologists are investigating the underground area. Construction of the underground parking lot will begin after the exploration is completed. According to the contract with the selected construction company, the construction will take approximately half a year.
  "The demand for spaces is greater than the garage capacity," said the spokesperson. The parking regime has not yet been established. "It will be a long-term rental at a reasonable price," Šalek added.
  The former parking lot will also undergo modifications costing approximately five million crowns, from which a small square will be created. It will include greenery, benches, and a water feature, the spokesperson listed.
  The underground garages between Wuchterlova and Kafka street will be the first ones built by the municipality. In the past, an underground parking lot was planned under Pushkin Square, which was to accommodate around 300 cars. However, local residents opposed the proposal, with over 1200 people signing a protest petition. According to Šalek, the municipality has previously halted all preparatory work.
  According to municipal studies, there is a shortage of about 800 parking spaces in the central parts of Dejvice and Bubenec.
