The publication BEER&SUGAR by authors Froněk (sugar factories), Jákl (Czech breweries) and Starec (Moravian and Silesian breweries) deals with the phenomenon of demolished breweries and sugar factories after 1945. It does not aim to comprehensively map all the demolished breweries (which are only mentioned in a list), but rather focuses on the enterprises that were significantly affected by reconstruction after the second half of the 19th century. A fundamental strength of the publication is both the rich visual documentation of never-before-published photos of breweries and sugar factories (a total of 220) and the precise localization of sites of former industrial pearls of our homeland.
We are very pleased with the great interest in the publication BEER&SUGAR by authors Froněk, Jákl, Starec; all 150 copies prepared for the seminar participants within the grant title European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development: Europe invests in rural areas were hopelessly sold out. A reprint managed by the Černokostelecký Brewery is available for purchase from 21/1. The price is 240 CZK plus postage, 88 pages, coated paper, with most of the photos (a total of 220!) being completely unique from our own sources or archives. Orders can be placed at kvetak@pivovarkostelec.cz
