Prostějov - The Prostějov City Hall will undertake construction modifications to Edmund Husserl Square in the city center this year. These should primarily remove the interventions that occurred in the area in the past during the installation of utility networks, said Prostějov deputy mayor Miroslav Pišťák (ČSSD) to reporters yesterday. According to him, the reconstruction of the square could be completed by the end of the year and will cost several million crowns. The intention to repair Husserl Square, located right in the historical core of the city, emerged several years ago. The reason was mainly the poor condition of the paving, which could not be restored to its original state after a series of excavation works. The city is now having documentation prepared, which will, among other things, indicate how much the modification of the area will cost. "As soon as the project documentation is delivered, we can talk about exact figures,” said Pišťák, adding that the costs should not exceed ten million crowns. It is still unclear whether the city will seek a grant from European funds – the relevant call would have to be announced. The project includes a new arrangement of traffic for motorists and cyclists as well as parking spaces. Heritage conservationists also had to express their opinions on the final form, who originally requested that the design be based on the appearance of the square in the first half of the 20th century. "There was an agreement, so we hope, and we will do everything possible, that we will start this year and possibly even finish it," the deputy mayor noted.
