Prague - After a long and difficult illness, photographer and university educator Pavel Štecha passed away on July 20, 2004. One of the most significant documentarians that Czech photography has ever had was 59 years old and in recent years had focused mainly on photographing architecture and portraits. He is well known, for example, for his photograph of Václav Havel listening in the National Gallery in front of a painting by Master Theodorik or the shot showing a girl's hand in Prague on November 17, 1989, handing a flower to police officers in white helmets with shields. However, he also took interesting photos back in 1968 when he photographed Praguers resisting the troops of the Warsaw Pact. He also participated in the filming of several documentary films. He collaborated, for example, with Viktor Polesný, Helena Třeštíková, or Pavel Koutecký.
