Prague - The Prague Technical Road Administration (TSK) will have the retaining walls of the Letna Tunnel repaired, which are in poor condition. The work will cost approximately 19.7 million crowns without VAT. This is indicated by a document published in the public procurement bulletin. The work for TSK will be carried out by the company Gardenline, although the document does not specify when the repairs will take place. The tunnel runs from the Vltava riverbank near the Štěfánik Bridge to Letna Square.
The reconstruction will concern the 136-meter-long retaining walls at the northern portal in Letna. The selected company will repair the damaged sections. At the same time, the walls by Milady Horákové Street will be removed, and new reinforced concrete walls will be built there. Individual sections of the walls will be repaired, and a new layer of reinforced concrete will be applied, which will be coated with a sealant against UV radiation.
So-called protective tubes for new public lighting will be anchored. The cladding at the base of the wall will be cleaned, repaired, and re-jointed, and the insulation and drainage of the walls, drainage wells, and ledges will also be repaired. A new railing will be attached.
The Letna Tunnel was opened in 1953, and its technical equipment was reconstructed between 2022 and 2023. It measures approximately 423 meters with a height difference of 33 meters between both ends of the tunnel.
