Prague - The Prague City Hall will prepare a study to examine the possibility of a tram line and reconstruction around Komořanská Street in Prague 12. This was approved by the councilors. The construction of the tram line is also related to the city's plan to connect Modřany to the Prague Ring Road with a new road, the so-called Nové Komořanské. In the area, the company Skanska wants to build apartment buildings and proposes the reconstruction of Komořanská as a transport solution until the new road is built.
According to the approved document, Skanska plans to build on the site of the former industrial area of Cukrovar Modřany. A change in the zoning plan is necessary for the tram construction, which was approved by the city council at the instigation of Prague 12 last year, and the city is now preparing it. The route is included in the transportation company's strategy for the development of lines until 2030.
The council commissioned the Institute of Planning and Development (IPR) to prepare the study assignment, which will then be processed by the transport company. According to the document, the city district demands that Komořanská have the character of an urban artery between General Šiška Street and U Soutoku Street. At the same time, it has several other demands, such as examining a footbridge over the planned new road and relocating the football field and replacing the tennis court. The town hall also wants to replace the dog shelter and the clubhouse for the water sports club Spartak Modřany.
The route connecting Modřany to the road ring was approved by the city district council in April 2006, the zoning plan change for the construction was submitted in 2009, and the city hall currently has a non-final zoning decision for the construction, which has been contested by local associations. The selected variant leads from the tram bridge on Československého exilu Street to U Soutoku Street.
