Prague - The Prague 7 municipality will build a new primary school for several hundred children in Holešovice on the former Přádelní Street. The reason is the developing residential construction, among other things, in Jankovcova Street and its surroundings. Next year, the municipality intends to announce an architectural competition for its design. Lenka Burgerová, the deputy mayor, told ČTK in an interview today (Prague 7 Sobě).

"The project is linked to the planned construction, where hundreds of new apartments will be created, and we need to be prepared for that situation," said Burgerová.

The municipality has already commissioned a so-called verification study, which assessed whether and in what size the building would fit on the land. "We have verified that the school will fit there," said the deputy mayor. The school is expected to have two classes of nine grades for about five hundred children. It will also include a playground or a school cafeteria.

When exactly the construction will start or how much it will cost is still unclear. Currently, a change to the zoning plan is being finalized at the municipality, which will allow for the construction. "We would like to announce the architectural competition at the end of 2020," said Burgerová. The municipality will address financing with the city hall.
