Prague - The Prague 3 municipality has announced a tender for the reconstruction of the unused former baths in Žižkov into a dance center. This information comes from the public procurement bulletin. The municipality will use the so-called design and build method, in which the same company will develop the project and also undertake the construction work. According to earlier information, the costs are expected to be around 276 million crowns, with 188 million crowns coming from the European National Recovery Plan.
The project plans to create four dance halls that will be used by professionals and the public alike. The center will also offer courses, workshops, educational seminars, and other activities. It will feature a so-called co-working space, a café, administrative facilities, and workshops for scenographers and costume designers.
The Žižkov baths operated from the beginning of the 20th century, featuring one large and two smaller pools, as well as steam baths. Bathing activities ceased in 1990, and the building subsequently served several other purposes. In recent years, the house has been empty. The municipality is preparing the reconstruction plan based on a project by the organization Tanec Praha, which must be completed by the end of 2025 due to the conditions of accessing European funds.
