The arcade near the Medical House on Sokolská Street will be revitalized

Prague – The arcade near the Medical House at I.P. Pavlova Square is set to undergo reconstruction. The neglected space will be cleaned, repaired, and a space for outdoor seating will be created. The spokesperson for Prague 2, Andrea Zoulová, communicated this to ČTK today. The city hall has agreed on the renewal with the Czech Medical Society J. E. Purkyně, the Czechoslovak Legionnaires' Association, and the city council. The arcade, which includes convenience stores and from where mainly night public transport lines depart, has been in poor condition for a long time. In the past, the area from the metro station exit to the tram stops has been renovated.

The arcade is located at the corner of Sokolská and Ječná streets with I.P. Pavlova Square. "The state of the arcade near the Medical House is unsatisfactory and it is necessary for all stakeholders related to the area to collaborate on its improvement. I am pleased that this time, the city of Prague has also joined the memorandum from 2016," said the mayor of Prague 2, Jana Černochová (ODS).

According to the city council's vision, in the future, the area will be cleaner and brighter, and seating or outdoor patios may be created there. There are also plans for adjustments to the surrounding streets, including expanding the pedestrian area, modifying the public transport bus stops, and new greenery will be planted. "The modification of the area in front of the Štefánik House on Ječná Street is proposed, with new paving to be laid, complemented by mature trees and urban furniture," the spokesperson added.

As part of the measures, the city halls will also support the humanization of the North-South expressway, reduce the number of traffic lanes, and add street greenery.

In recent years, the area near the metro and tram stops at the junction of Lublaňská Street has been remodeled and adjusted. The road height has been modified, part of the railing has been removed, and a new pedestrian crossing has been created in front of the tram stops at Legerova Street and I.P. Pavlova Square.
