Near Brno's Rondo, shops, offices, and garages will be built

Brno - Near the center of Brno, on Nové sady street, two seven-story buildings with offices, shops, and underground garages will be built this year. The Titanium Center, near the Rondo sports hall, is expected to be completed in 2009 and will occupy an area of 8,000 square meters along the railway track, where several empty or dilapidated sites currently exist. This was stated today by Pavlína Nečasová from the development company JRA Invest.
    The company JRA financed, for example, the Platinum building on Veveří street in Brno. The project was successful, and the company has decided to look for other suitable plots in the regional city, Nečasová stated. However, other development projects are not currently planned by JRA.
    According to the architectural design, two separate seven-story buildings will arise on Nové sady, connected by underground garages with more than 200 parking spaces. They are mainly intended for visitors and employees of the center, but will also be available to other drivers for a fee. This could at least slightly alleviate traffic in the city center, as Titanium will be just two tram stops from the center of Brno.
    The strip of land between Nové sady and the railway track is gradually changing. Part of the former marketplace Malá Amerika is now a winter ice rink, while the rest belongs to the Brno-střed municipality and Czech Railways. Its use is still under discussion, stated Roman Burián, spokesman for the municipal district. Areas on the other side of the railway are expected to be transformed soon. The so-called Southern Center currently consists of the Vaňkovka shopping gallery and the headquarters of the Brno-venkov Cadastral Office. A new urban boulevard is planned to connect the city center and a proposed new train station.
    To the south of Brno, several even taller buildings are currently being planned. Near Vaňkovka, an eleven-story hotel is set to be built, and an even taller building is planned in the administrative Spielberk Office Center. Currently, there are already 55,000 square meters of office space. Additional offices are being constructed further south in the Brno Business Center or in Axis Office Park.
