On Monday, October 31, 2016, the trial operation of the community space with an information center was ceremoniously inaugurated in the first renovated building of the Buďánka heritage zone. The former grocery store has undergone reconstruction, which followed the work on the technical security and roofing of other buildings in the settlement. For all the work (new roofs, network recovery project, renovation of the grocery store), the fifth city district allocated six million Czech crowns this year.
On the last day of October, the trial operation of the community space with an information center was ceremoniously launched in the first repaired building of the Buďánka heritage zone on Nad Zámečnicí Street. "October 2016 enters the history of our city district. After years of disputes and uncertainty, the reconstructed building is a tangible result of the willingness and effort to restore the Buďánka settlement. Moreover, it is evident that the cooperation between the city district and the civic initiative is working," says Mayor Radek Klíma.
The community space and information center will be operated by the association Experts and Citizens for the Revitalization of the Buďánka Heritage Zone, which has leased the building according to the Loan and Partnership Agreement with financial co-participation from November 2015 for 78 months. "The association has been preparing for several years a project for the rescue and revitalization of the Buďánka heritage zone. We are creating a public community space in cooperation with the local government, combining cultural, social, and educational activities with an ecological approach and housing. The project plans to incorporate various social and age groups. The collaboration with strong and experienced partners, significant non-profits, is significant and unique. The process is now heading towards announcing an open architectural competition for the development of a study of the entire area by the end of the year," says Martin Dvořák, a member of the association.
