Plzeň - Plzeň is preparing construction investments worth 1.4 billion crowns for next year, which is 18 percent higher than last year. Almost the entire amount will come from city funds, with subsidized projects accounting for nearly 40 million CZK. The city plans to undertake rather more smaller constructions, said the economic deputy mayor Pavel Kotas (ČSSD) to ČTK. Plans include, for example, the repair of Dlouhá Street in the Lobzy area and the commencement of construction of a hall in the TJ Lokomotiva complex.

"If we take years adjusted for subsidy financial resources, then it is definitely a record amount,"
he stated. This is due to the transfer of about 750 million crowns from this year's budget to ongoing investments, good management of the city, and also the growth of the economy, that is, tax revenues. About 100 million crowns of the total amount will be invested by ten city districts.

The city, with a budget of 5.5 billion crowns, has saved money in funds, and therefore will likely postpone or possibly not draw a loan from the European Investment Bank worth 650 million CZK for three years.

For the reconstruction of Dlouhá Street in the Lobzy municipal district next year, together with the shares of the city company Vodárna Plzeň and the fourth city district, a total of 110 million crowns will be allocated. It will be an annual reconstruction of the current four-lane road up to Rokycanská Avenue into a two-lane road, where longitudinal parking spaces, bays for public transport, and greenery will be created. Furthermore, Plzeň plans to initiate a two-year construction of a multifunctional hall in the TJ Lokomotiva area for 120 million crowns, which will be connected to the current hall.

In the next two years, the city will also modify and put into operation the Radbuza embankment for 50 million crowns, where cultural events are planned to be held. The shore reinforcement, promenade, grassy relaxation area, and café are expected to be completed in the summer of 2018. For the repair of Sedláčková Street, which is the last street in the center that has not been revitalized, the city will invest 45 million CZK with Vodárna. Roads, sidewalks, lighting, and networks will be repaired. Approximately 42 million crowns will be spent on water supply and sewage in the Stráň residential complex in Červený Hrádek, an additional 30 to 40 million crowns for the completion of the Úslavský sewage collector, and tens of millions as contributions to two state transportation investments - the repair of Patton Bridge and bridges near the main train station. These large two-year state constructions will begin in the spring.

In addition, Plzeň is reconstructing 52 social apartments on Plachého Street for about 40 million CZK, expanding Karlovarská Avenue by one lane for 30 million crowns, and investing 22 million CZK into the construction modifications of Rachtaříkova and Neumannova streets in Slovany. About 14 million crowns are planned for the revitalization of the Thanks, America! memorial, whose granite columns were removed this year due to dangerous cracks. The city will further extend bike paths near the zoo and between Hradištěm and Radobyčicemi.
