Pardubice Region wants a law and money for the acquisition of state monuments

Pardubice - The Pardubice Region is ready to take over the Set of Folk Architecture Vysočina from the state and the Museum of Puppet Cultures in Chrudim. However, it will require that the transfer is regulated by a special law and that both monuments receive the same funding that has flowed to the institutions so far. This was stated by the first deputy governor of the Pardubice Region, Roman Línek, to reporters today. The Ministry of Culture's response is being sought by ČTK.
    "The region is prepared to take over both organizations and further develop them. I believe that the joint transfer could take place through a special law possibly by January 1, 2009. We also want to ensure that we receive in the budgetary allocation of taxes the money that the state has so far spent on the operation of these institutions," Línek stated.
    The region plans that the puppet museum will merge with the Regional Museum in Chrudim, which would allow for joint utilization of property and staff. For the establishment of the facilities, it also seeks to acquire military land in the depot in Chrudim for the construction of a depository and other workplaces. The Set of Folk Architecture Vysočina would become an independent contributory organization of the region.
    The Pardubice Region has been striving for the takeover of the open-air museum in Chrudim for some time. The Set of Folk Architecture is the most visited monument in the region. Last year, 75,580 visitors came to the open-air museum at Veselý Kopec, and an additional 7,490 people visited the open-air museum Betlém in Hlinsko and the open-air museum in Svobodné Hamry, which also belong to the institution.
