Ústí nad Labem - Transparency International and the Czech-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry are complaining about the tender in which a company was selected to build the last section of the D8 motorway for 11.7 billion crowns. The organizations claim that the competition disadvantaged small companies and foreign firms. The North Bohemian supplement of MF Dnes reported today that the case is also being addressed by the antitrust office.

The Directorate of Roads and Highways rejects the criticism. Spokeswoman Martina Vápeníková told the newspaper that they proceeded in a manner entirely commensurate with the complexity and scope of the contract.
The competition was won by a consortium of companies Stavby silnic a železnic, Metrostav, Berger Bohemia and SMP Construction. The motorway is to be completed by the end of 2010.
