Zlin - The new director of the Kroměříž Museum, which is an organization funded by the Zlín Region, will be Martina Miláčková. Starting from February 1, she will replace Jiří Stránský, who is retiring. Miláčková won the selection process, and her appointment was subsequently decided by the regional councilors. This was stated today by the spokesperson of the regional office, Adéla Kousalová, in a press release.
"We believe that (Miláčková) will apply her expertise and experience as well as her managerial skills at the head of the organization," said regional councilor Miroslav Kašný (KDU-ČSL). He also thanked Stránský, who has been the director of the museum since 1996, for his many years of quality work.
Miláčková has been working for the Olomouc Museum of Art since 2006, where she served as collection manager and curator until 2014, and has been the head of the Archdiocesan Museum of Kroměříž department from 2014 to the present. She actively participated in numerous significant exhibition projects of the Olomouc Museum of Art, contributed to an award-winning museum publication, and edited two scholarly books. She studied theory and history of fine arts at the Palacký University in Olomouc and museology at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno.
The Kroměříž Museum is located in Kroměříž, but it also manages the castle in Chropyně, monuments of folk architecture, and a windmill in Rymice, as well as another windmill near Velké Těšany. This year, the renovation of the farmyard in Rymice, costing 130 million crowns, is set to begin, which will create a cohesive complex with new exhibitions that will showcase the lives of ancestors. Cultural events are also planned to take place there. In other parts of the building, there will be ethnographic and archaeological depositories with facilities for researchers.
