Jindřichův Hradec – Jindřichův Hradec plans to build a new suburb in Zbuzany. In the architectural competition, the city selected from two dozen proposals. According to the winning concept, 175 apartments could be built in the area covering 7.9 hectares, providing homes for over 500 people. The city will now commission a land-use study for 1.5 million. Construction could gradually begin around 2030, said the city hall spokesperson Karolína Bartošková to ČTK.

According to the proposal, a combination of individual and residential housing should be built in Zbuzany. “The aim is certainly to offer a new construction option, as mass housing has not been built at all in Hradec in recent years. And Jindřichův Hradec as a city still has its potential. It is a district town, so we believe this could also be a way to offer future generations quality apartments,” said the mayor of Jindřichův Hradec Michal Kozár (ANO) to ČTK.

The city is preparing a concept that would be incorporated into the land-use plan and will seek future financing models. The investor could be the city itself or a private investor. “There can certainly be more options. There are also plans for some apartments that the city might build and own itself, for example, small apartments, but that is still more of a conceptual plan than a detailed financial plan,” said the city hall spokesperson.

The Zbuzany area is located on the southwestern edge of the city and connects to the residential zone of the Prague suburb. It is near the train station and a public transport stop, with easy access to the city center by foot. To the south, the area is bordered by road I/23, which leads traffic from Brno to the D3 highway, and to the north, there is a railway line and a gardening colony. Of the total area of 7.9 hectares, most of the land is owned by the city.
