Dear visitors of the Night of Churches, this evening, June 7, 2024, 1854 churches across the Czech Republic will open their doors for you! This includes, for example, 160 in Prague and 261 in the Brno diocese. We have prepared 7777 program points!

Take the opportunity to discover new places, look closely at unknown objects, see beautiful sacred art, meet new movements and spiritual Christian currents, hear testimonies, meet interesting people, visit rare places, see things that are usually not possible… Several thousand volunteers are ready tonight to present their churches and assist you, the visitors. Just come and be there! You don't have to register anywhere in advance, you don't need to buy any tickets. You don’t have to be shy to ask about things you don’t know!

For orientation in the program, use the website Night of Churches or the mobile phone app. It can download the program in advance, for example at home, so there’s no need to deal with weak mobile signal coverage. The program offers a rich selection from worship services, discussions, music to prayer or even silence!

The first Night of Churches took place in 2005 in Vienna, where they are commemorating twenty years since the first Night of Churches. In our country, we started in 2009. Today, we are a country that carries this activity in the heart of Europe.

The Archbishop of Prague, Mons. Jan Graubner, writes for this evening in his greeting, among other things: Dear friends, I warmly welcome each of you in the church you have visited as part of the Night of Churches. This year’s project connects the idea of the heart. Perhaps we can think of the church as the heart of the community... We can also think of the hearts of the visitors, to whom I wish that from this encounter with God, they may take away peace and joy in their hearts, reassurance, or the discovery that there is a home they can return to, that there is Someone who cares about us.

The Chairman of the Ecumenical Council of Churches, Tomáš Tyrlík, adds in his greeting for the Night of Churches 2024: In connection with the Night of Churches, I am reminded of the words of Jiří Wolkr, who said: “people open doors for people.” These words are realized on the Night of Churches as well. Open temples, churches, prayer rooms, or other sacred buildings provide a space for silence, listening, and reflection on life, its direction, and purpose. Let us wish that the doors of our churches and temples are not only open, but also the doors of human hearts... May this year’s Night of Churches allow our human hearts to know more of God’s heart, which continues to beat for humanity.
Come, we look forward to seeing you!
