Brodek u Přerova (Přerovsko) - The railway station in Brodek u Přerova will not receive monument protection. The Ministry of Culture did not agree to the proposal of experts who wanted to include the building on the list of immovable cultural monuments. CTK was informed by Tomáš Tichák, a collaborator at the Olomouc office of the National Heritage Institute. The heritage protectors aimed to have the railway station building designated as a cultural monument. "The station building from 1855 on the branch wing of the former North Railway of Emperor Ferdinand is, according to Olomouc heritage protectors, a unique realization of the project by architect Ehrenhaus and illustrates construction activities during the period of building railways in today’s republic," stated Tichák. However, the plans of the heritage protectors were thwarted by building modifications from 1955. "According to the Ministry of Culture, these modifications, during which all decorative elements were removed and doors and windows were replaced, degraded the building to such an extent that it no longer meets the criteria for listing as a monument," added the representative of the institute. However, the Olomouc heritage protectors were successful with a brickworks from 1911 in Štíty in the Šumperk region, which the Ministry of Culture has now declared to be a cultural monument. This was done against the objection of the current owner of the building, the Czech Budějovice company Wienerberger, a brick industry firm, which filed an appeal against this decision. The Minister of Culture Václav Jedlička rejected it in mid-March.
