Náchod - The town hall in Náchod intends to repair the building with the source of the famous mineral water Ida by the middle of the year. The investment for the repair of the building in the form of a chapel and the pumping technology is estimated by the city at around 850,000 crowns. This was stated today by Deputy Mayor Tomáš Šubert (Patriots of the town of Náchod). The dilapidated spring of the Běloves mineral water Ida stands on the outskirts of the spa, which disappeared in the 1990s. It is located on the land owned by the spa complex owners. The city has now agreed with them on a free loan of the spring, Šubert said. Currently, the mineral water flows freely from several pipes into the Metuje River, where people collect it for drinking. The Ida mineral water contains arsenic in amounts exceeding allowed limits. However, the city, according to Šubert, will probably not invest hundreds of thousands of crowns in technology that would reduce the arsenic content. "Ida would lose its characteristic taste," said Šubert. According to him, there could be information at the spring about the composition of the water and a warning that excessive consumption could harm health. "The repair of the spring could also be the first step towards a possible future restoration of the Běloves spa," said Šubert. The Náchod town hall has been trying to restore the spa for many years, but so far no negotiations with potential investors have led to any concrete results. According to ČTK information, the original Běloves bottling plant for the Ida mineral water was purchased at auction in 1991 for 110 million crowns by Antonín Moravec, whose name is associated with the collapse of the Credit and Industrial Bank in Plzeň. Until December 2000, the bottling plant was operated by a limited liability company Aqua Ida, whose owners, according to the commercial register, were relatives of Moravec. After the collapse of Aqua Ida in December 2000, production was briefly resumed in January 2001 by the company Nealko Karviná.
