Jaroslavice/Hrádek (Znojemsko) - This year, two giant solar power plants will be built in the Znojmo region. According to the operators, the parks in Jaroslavice and Hrádek will be the most powerful in Central Europe and will suffice for the consumption of about 600 households. Tomáš Buzrla from the company Energy 21, which is preparing the project, said this to ČTK today. The same company has now withdrawn from the construction of panels in nearby Božice, as it was not approved by the Ministry of Environment.
Solar panels in the Czech Republic produce less than one percent of electricity. Compared to other types, they are relatively low in efficiency. For example, the park in Jaroslavice will have a capacity of 0.9 megawatts over an area of 3.5 hectares, which is nearly half the capacity of a regular wind turbine that occupies a much smaller area.
Each panel measures one meter by one meter. There will be 15,000 of them in Jaroslavice, with 100 more in Hrádek, resulting in a capacity of one megawatt. The cost of each site exceeds 100 million crowns, totaling about 230 million, calculated Buzrla. According to him, Znojemsko is the most advantageous location in the region, as evidenced by meteorological measurements over the past 30 years. For example, compared to Brno, the sun shines there eight percent more.
The largest solar power plant in the Czech Republic currently operates in Ostrožská Lhota. Its installed capacity is 702 kilowatts, but the operator wants to expand it to 1.5 MW. In southern Moravia, solar energy is already being utilized, for instance, at the Faculty of Education of Masaryk University, and there is a solar park in Dubňany in Hodonín district since this year.
