Zlín

Zlín - Significant tourist destinations in the Zlín Region could still be highlighted this year with brown signs, which people know from other regions. The regional authority expects the project, costing around 9.2 million CZK, to primarily enhance the promotion of individual locations and improve visitor orientation in the region. This was stated to ČTK by the regional councilor for culture, Jindřich Ondruš.

For the project, the Zlín Region has selected 55 locations, which will be indicated by more than 600 signs, counting on up to eighty percent financial support from European funds. "This includes, for example, museums, Velehrad, Pustevny, the gardens of Kroměříž, basically all significant places that we know exist, but the signage is minimal," the councilor added.
This year, the regional authority will release 28.5 million CZK for the development of tourism and promotion of the region. In total, the region aims to use up to 100 million CZK from European sources for these activities over the next seven years, thus nearly doubling the annual expenditures on tourism support compared to previous years.
Last year, the Zlín Region welcomed the highest number of tourists in the last seven years. Operators of hotels, guesthouses, and other accommodations welcomed 532,761 people, which is 24,204 more than the previous year.
