Ostrava - A new facility will open on the peak of Lysá hora in the Beskydy Mountains this Sunday. After the reconstruction of the Bezruč hut, workers have completed the Maraton hut. It will offer food and accommodation. The ceremonial opening on Sunday is intended for invited guests. The public will be able to use all the facilities in November. Radek Menšík, a representative of the company AK 1324, told ČTK. The Maraton hut is being built on the site of the demolished Plesnivka hut. It will provide modern amenities for tourists. "Visitor numbers at the peak of Lysá hora are gradually increasing. On some days, up to 4,000 people come. Among them is a number of foreign tourists. The previous conditions were not adequate for the significance of the highest mountain in the Beskyds. Lysá hora must have representative facilities," Menšík stated earlier. The company does not want to disclose the costs associated with the construction of the new hut. The operation of the facility, which will offer restaurant and accommodation services, is expected to be self-sustaining. In addition to Maraton, the company also owns two other facilities on Lysá hora. This trio of huts is named after a great personality of the region, athlete and four-time Olympic champion Emil Zátopek. The overall name is Chata Emil Zátopek. The individual huts are named after the disciplines in which the athlete won gold medals in 1952 in Helsinki - Pětka (Five), Desítka (Ten), and the newly completed Maraton. At the beginning of September, representatives of the Club of Czech Tourists opened their hut as well. This was the Bezruč hut. The original hut from 1934 burned down in 1978. Since then, only remnants of ruins have reminded visitors of it at the peak of the highest mountain in the Beskyds. This hut is also not yet in full operation. It currently offers visitors only a restaurant, with accommodation to follow later. A final inspection is expected in October.
