Guarino Guarini (1624–1683) was a Theatine priest, mathematician, philosopher, and High Baroque architect, known for the fantastical compositions of his ecclesiastical buildings. He designed primarily for the Theatine order in various European cities as well as in Turin, where he lived and worked as the court architect for the ruling Savoy family. In their service, he also designed several secular buildings and widely popularized his work with the treatise Dissegni 'architettura civile et ecclesiastica, which was published posthumously in 1686.
