Dolní Dvůr (Trutnovsko) - People in Dolní Dvůr in the Krkonoš Mountains are protesting against the planned construction of the so-called Dutch village, which is to consist of 42 houses for living and recreation. The protest against the intention to build the village has been signed by about 90 residents and cottage owners of Dolní Dvůr, which has approximately 250 inhabitants. This was reported by today's Krkonošský deník.
The construction of the village, which is to be built in the Sluneční stráň location, would according to opponents cause a shortage of water in the area. "The complex would drain all the springs. We are already suffering from a lack of water," the opponents stated. They also claimed that the construction would allegedly destroy the road and the entire area would suffer from significant dust.
According to the mayor of Dolní Dvůr, Magdalena Ničová, nothing has yet been decided regarding the construction of the village. "So far we only have the intention that the investors have presented," she said. According to her, the councilors want to reach out to people through a survey to find out their opinions on the development of the municipality. The territory in question belongs to the protected area of the Krkonošsko National Park. Therefore, its administrators will also have to comment on the investors' proposal.
The Podkrkonoší and Krkonoš regions are popular, especially for tourists from the Netherlands. In several places, they have therefore had new, modern chalets constructed. Entire Dutch villages have emerged in recent years, for example in Čistá near Vrchlabí and in Stupná near Nová Paka in the Jičín region.
