The sanatorium in Jihlava will take over the "renovated" Fuchs Pavilion

Jihlava - A renovated pavilion will begin operating this year at the Jihlava Psychiatric Hospital. The reconstruction of the functionalist building by architect Bohuslav Fuchs will be completed in November and will cost 40 million korunas. The pavilion will host a so-called geriatric psychiatry department, which is an area for patients over 65 years of age. The department will have 49 beds. Miroslav Fuks, a spokesperson for the construction company PSJ, which is carrying out the work, informed ČTK about this today.
    "This special facility for men and women was missing in Jihlava so far. The environment should have a better standard to ensure dignity for these people,” stated the director of the hospital, Zdeňka Drlíková. The new facility will provide rehabilitation for these patients and will aim for their reintegration into society, she added.
    Work on the restoration of one of the nine psychiatric pavilions began last December. Previously, this three-story building had been closed for several years due to its deplorable condition. According to Fuchs, the shape of the roof will be preserved at the pavilion. The facade will be insulated, and a terrace and shelter will be added at the back of the building.
