Přerov - More than eighty million crowns have been invested by the Teplice nad Bečvou Spa in the reconstruction of the functionalist spa house Praha, which is the dominant feature of this spa town. At the same time, it is one of the most significant buildings of interwar spa architecture. The reconstruction of the Praha house, which is now open, lasted two years, said today the spokesperson of Teplice nad Bečvou Spa, Kateřina Svobodová.

"The interiors, internal networks, the exterior façade of the building and the surrounding outdoor areas were renovated. Significant functionalist elements, such as the outdoor terraces, the internal staircase with a railing and terrazzo landings, and the entrance hall with ceiling reliefs, were preserved and sensitively restored,"
the spokesperson stated.

In the renovated spa house Praha, guests who prefer high-standard hotel accommodation can now find lodging, according to Svobodová. They have 29 rooms or apartments with 55 beds and spacious loggias available. "The house has a Finnish sauna, a common room, and there is barrier-free access and several rooms for immobile clients," Svobodová added.

The former Czechoslovak state spa Teplice nad Bečvou built the Praha house for its patients between 1931 and 1932 according to a design by Alois Jambor. The five-story free-standing building has an unusually rounded floor plan, a flat roof, and extensive terraces. It was built in the spa park.

The management of Teplice nad Bečvou Spa now wants to build parking areas, sidewalks around the Praha house, and they are also preparing adjustments to the spa park.

Teplice nad Bečvou Spa, one of the oldest spas in Moravia, specializes in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. In addition to heart and vascular issues, Teplice Spa also treats oncological diseases, metabolic disorders and endocrine gland diseases, musculoskeletal disorders, neurological diseases, diabetes, and high blood pressure.
