Zlín - The spa resort Luhačovice is preparing to renovate the Morava spa hotel. The costs will amount to tens of millions of crowns and it will be one of the largest investment projects in the last five years, said the general director of the spa, Eduard Bláha, to journalists today in Zlín. According to him, the spa is currently selecting a supplier from three applicants. "The renovation will take place after about fifty years; the last significant modifications were carried out in the 1960s," noted the director. Construction work will begin in the winter, and the renovation should be completed at the start of the next season. The hotel offers 180 beds. "We will convert non-equipped rooms into equipped rooms to meet today's standards," said Jiří Dědek, the executive director of the spa, to ČTK. The number of beds will thus be reduced by about twenty. "The main intervention, however, will be in the technologies; there will be new water, electricity, and heating distribution systems, a new gas boiler room – that is the foundation of the investment," noted Dědek. The spa will close the entire hotel from December to March due to the works. "From the beginning of April, we would like to open the part that is not affected by the renovation. By the beginning of the main season, the hotel should be fully prepared," said Dědek. However, the renovation will not affect the balneotherapy services. This spring, the spa completed several years of renovation of the children's treatment facilities, and in some establishments, it improved the amenities for treating musculoskeletal disorders. They also renovated the spa grounds for 28 million, where old trees were removed and new ones planted. New rows of trees, an avenue, and a Japanese garden were created.
