Prague - The construction of a multifunctional and administrative building that the owner of the Sparta football team, Daniel Křetínský, intends to build in place of the training ground next to the Sparta stadium is becoming complicated. The city’s environmental protection department decided that the investor must prepare complete documentation on environmental impacts. The city districts of Prague 6 and Prague 7 refuse the project.

The office wants to evaluate, among other things, the impact on the air quality situation, noise pollution, and public health. The investor must also design the building to minimize negative effects on the surroundings as much as possible.
Křetínský aims to replace the current training ground with a multifunctional commercial building and an administrative building with seven above-ground floors. The administrative building is to house the offices of AC Sparta Prague and service apartments. There should be a total of 64 service apartments in both buildings.
Three floors of the multifunctional building are to contain shops and restaurants, while the third floor is reserved for leisure activities, namely wellness and fitness. The fourth floor will be occupied by a multiplex cinema. In the remaining three floors, there will be service apartments. The project includes 988 parking spaces.
The buildings are to be constructed in the enclosed area of the AC Sparta Prague football club between Milady Horákové Street and U Sparty Street and the Prague - Kladno railway line. The proposed project partially overlaps with the ramp leading to the Blanka tunnel.
The investor plans to start construction according to the documentation in spring 2016, with work expected to last until autumn 2018. It is unclear whether this schedule can be maintained. Before starting construction, the company must still obtain a zoning decision and building permit. In doing so, it will face opposition from the city districts of Prague 6 and Prague 7. They are unhappy with the size of the project and the fact that it will be a shopping center, preferring only residential construction in the area. At the end of last year, representatives of Prague 6 and Prague 7 jointly criticized the investor for presenting the proposal in a "tight deadline" and also during the holiday period.
