Prague - The Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) at today's board meeting dismissed its chairman Josef Panna. "The fundamental reason for the dismissal was the differing views of the majority of board members on the management and task assignment of the ČKA office and the chamber's own leadership," said chamber spokesperson Zuzana Hošková to ČTK. The leadership of the Chamber has been temporarily entrusted to the first vice-chairman of the ČKA, architect Petr Lešek. A new chairman will be elected at the February board meeting. The task of the new chairman will be to lead the chamber to the general assembly, which will take place in April of this year and at which the annual election of one third of the twelve-member board will be held, the spokesperson added. Forty-year-old Petr Lešek studied architecture at the Czech Technical University, then joined the studio of Václav Králíček. In 2002, he founded the office Projektil architekti with colleagues Roman Brychta, Adam Halíř, and Ondřej Hofmeister. In 2007, they jointly won the Grand Prix of the Architects' Association for the Center of Ecological Activities Sluňákov. Two years later, they received an award in the new building category at the same competition for the Study and Scientific Library in Hradec Králové. The National Technical Library in Prague's Dejvice brought them the Grand Prix of the Architects' Association in 2010, as well as the award from the Club for Old Prague for new construction in a historical context. In 2011, Lešek became a member of the board of the Czech Chamber of Architects and the chairman of the working group for transparent public procurement.
