Prague - Architect Jan Kaplický will personally present his design for the new National Library building to the Prague councilors on November 29th. This was agreed upon today by the members of the National Library working team. For this reason, Kaplický considered today's meeting a success, as he has long wished to present his building to the councilors personally. "The library in Letná will happen. It may be half a meter shorter or wider," Kaplický expressed his optimism after the meeting.

Another team member, Mayor Pavel Bém, stated after the meeting that the issue of whether the library will be built in Letná according to Kaplický is too significant to be "trivialized into a yes or no question, or yes, or no, just right now, at this moment." "So let's wait," he said.
A poll was conducted regarding whether the author should personally present the proposal at the council, and the majority of councilors were in favor. It was the Prague councilors from ODS who were the first to publicly express their disapproval of the building's design a few weeks ago.
In recent days, expert groups of architects, conservationists, and lawyers have begun their work. "Both architects and conservationists primarily requested opinions from lawyers, who are to comment on the course of the architectural competition, further possibilities of using its results, and other legal issues," the press release states. The working team agreed today that the group of lawyers would present their work to the remaining expert groups.
The next meeting of the working team will take place on November 28th at 15:00 again at the mayor's residence. According to preliminary agreements, the "first significant output of the entire team" should be completed by Christmas.
