Jemnice - Jemnice in the Třebíč region will continue the repairs of the Baroque castle. This year, a complete roof structure replacement will begin, estimated at 22 million crowns. Due to the budget, the approximately four-thousand-inhabitant town will have to spread the work over several years. This was stated to ČTK by Mayor Miloň Slabý (SNK).

"We have a promise of 1.4 million crowns from the program for the preservation of architectural heritage for the repair of the roof structure," said Slabý. The city will add one million crowns from its own budget to the funds from the Ministry of Culture. "We have significant expenses; we cannot just repair monuments," Slabý said.

Jemnice has a thirty-hectare urban heritage zone encompassing the city center, including the castle, the game preserve, and the park. Another significant monument is the Church of St. Vitus in the northeastern part of the town or the Pallavicini family tomb located north of the town. The church has already undergone extensive reconstruction, and initial work on the restoration of the tomb began last year. Last year, the repair of the roof trusses was completed at the castle, with a total value of approximately ten million crowns.

Jemnice Castle was created by converting a feudal castle founded in the early 13th century. In the 16th century, the castle was transformed into a four-wing Renaissance castle, later acquiring a Baroque appearance. In 1945, the castle was taken over by the army to house troops and was not vacated until 1992. The castle remained empty. Since 1994, the entire complex has been owned by the city.

The budget of Jemnice this year is about 96 million crowns. "This year we have significant expenses regarding the completion of infrastructure for building plots, where we will still be paying several million," said Slabý. Several million are also designated for repairs of sidewalks and public lighting associated with the reconstruction of the main road running through the town. These costs will be covered by the Vysočina Region, which owns the road.
